Kalon ('great' in Tajik) Minaret - built in 1127. Chinggis Khan stared in awe at the site of the then tallest building in central Asia. As he looked up to the top his hat fell off. He knelled to pick up his hat and ordered that the minaret be spared in the destruction of Bukhara.
